What ages do you serve at Blue Moon Behavioral Health?Our practice serves the mental health needs of adults ages 18 and beyond.

Where is your practice located?Our practice is solely a virtual practice. We currently serve the mental health needs of anyone residing in the state of Maryland. You must be present in the state during your scheduled appointment time.

Do you accept insurance?We currently accept the following insurance plans: Optum, Cigna/Evernorth, BCBS, John Hopkins, United Healthcare UHC/UBH. If you are uninsured, we also have a self-pay option.

How do I start my telehealth visit?Once you’ve scheduled your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link for your virtual meeting with the provider.

What is the best way for me to contact my provider?Our office uses Spruce Health, a HIPPA compliant secure messaging service which allows you to communicate with your provider. Feel free to download the app to your phone as this is a convenient way to request medication refills and follow up appointments.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?We ask that you please notify us 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Any appointment that is cancelled, rescheduled or a no show with less than 24 hour notice will incur a reschedule/cancellation fee of $50. Most insurance plans will not cover these fees. Intake/Initial Evaluation: $300 Follow up visit: $175

Do you offer therapy?We offer brief supportive therapy, commonly known as motivational interviewing. Some patients may require more advanced therapy techniques. We will be happy to refer you to a licensed therapist in your area if needed.

What if I need a prescription refill?During your regularly scheduled follow up appointments, we will assess the need to continue, discontinue or change your current medication(s) so it’s very important that you are compliant with these visits. We will electronically send your prescription refills, if appropriate, to the pharmacy of your choice. We typically prescribe enough medication to last until your next visit. Please keep in mind that some medications require lab monitoring, and we may need those results before prescribing additional refills.

What if I don’t have insurance?Our self-pay rates depends on what type of appointment is needed and are as follows: Intake/Initial Evaluation: $300 Follow up visit (up to 25 minutes): $150 Extended follow up visit (up to 50 minutes): $200

What can I do if I am experiencing a crisis?If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or others, feeling disoriented or out of touch with reality this is considered a psychiatric emergency. Please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department. For nationwide crisis support, please contact the national suicide prevention hotline via call or text to 988.
